A letter to my father in heaven

A few years ago, I wrote you a letter with words of forgiveness and pure unconditional love. At the time of my letter, the pain of you leaving our lives so abruptly stung every cell in my body.

Today is different. Today I feel at peace as I have learned to live life with you in my soul.

I remember vividly the day you passed away so peacefully. My mother, my sister, and I were sitting beside your bed, holding your warm hands as your breath was slowly flowing out of your still body. I remember a smell I can’t…

I love people in small doses, and I never knew this until I started my own business and journey as an entrepreneur. I worked for nearly two decades in large multinational organizations with a lot of people at once. Working in offices and being surrounded by people for more than two hours in a row felt like torture to my nervous system. I am an ambivert, meaning I developed a preference for both. But as I become older with the years and with a highly functioning bullshit detector, my tendency goes towards a choice for introversion.

When I started working…

Sensitive people are portrayed as victims, and this is so far from the truth.

Sensitive people have so many superpowers like high levels of creativity, innovation, people skills like no one else, and the ability to articulate feelings into specific and tangible outcomes.

Maximizing your emotional intelligence will help you develop a strong and healthy mindset so that you can excel in all areas of life with peace of mind.

I was born as a Highly Sensitive person and an Empath. …

I finally get to do what I love the most: being my authentic self and living my highest and purest expression in the service of humanity.

This year I turned forty years old. Some may feel this is too old to start anything new and live a life of your dreams. The opposite is true.

I look back at the last decade and where I was around this time in 2009, exactly ten years ago. I had just turned thirty years old. I had met a man, a kind and good-looking man. My biological clock was ticking. …

I am an Empath. I found out I was an Empath only after I hit burnout. You may wonder what an Empath is. Dr. Judith Orloff, a renowned Psychiatrist, and Empath herself has spent decades in scientific research and helping Highly Sensitive People navigate life with empowerment. Empaths have no sponge and absorb all of the outside energies, including emotions and feelings from other people. You can only imagine how exhausting this is if you don’t learn how to manage your sensitive superpower. Yes, superpower!

Only if you invest in caring for yourself first, will you be able to transform…

It seems like ages ago, but it has only been a couple of months since I genuinely felt recovered from my own burnout. I never felt ready to write about my experience or to share what happened in full disclosure.

Partly because everyone seems to be speaking about burnout as if it is the next “hot topic” to chat about. Like if you are part of the burnout club, you somehow receive a badge of honor and courage. By all means, burnout survivors are truly resilient and courageous people.

But do we really have to hit burnout to wake up…

Allow me to briefly explain EQ, an ambiguous abbreviation which stands for emotional intelligence. (You will be surprised by how many people google the word EQ!).

EQ is the emotional quotient, a (notional) measure of a person’s adequacy in such areas as self-awareness, empathy, and dealing sensitively with other people.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is a set of emotional and social skills that collectively establish how well we perceive, and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use information in an effective and meaningful way. …

Friday 15th of March, a day which is seemingly ordinary like any other Friday in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand.

A community of people wakes up to their sacred day of the week where they worship their version of the creator named Allah.

They purify and cleanse themselves with water, they dress as they get ready for their Friday prayers in a mosque which represents their place of safety and security.

They enter their holy place while they take their shoes off and walk towards the center of the mosque.

Friends, family, and strangers greeting each other and preparing…

I was beyond excited when I had my first photo shoot for a project I am passionate about: Wisdom, Experience and Emotions in the Digital Age. A friend and colleague, who is a photographer, came over with his beautiful daughter, and we took some fantastic shots. When he showed me the photos, I was blown away by the quality compared to previous pictures I had of myself. I was filled with adrenaline because of a special moment captured in images that soon would be mine.

Then the big day came, and I received access to my gallery. I remember sitting…

My reflections following a two and half day inclusive leadership seminar in Paris

I was excited to spend two days in Paris, la cite d’amour, croissants et baguettes. The first one got me in trouble. As soon as I got off the Thalys, I walked down the platform and could not help notice the charming French man working for the border police.

God gave us eyes to look, so I stared

Apparently that gave them enough reason to run after me and do a full check up!

Lesson learned: no matter how cute he or she is, just keep walking…
